FAQ 4G Spain Unlimited Internet

4G Spain provides residential and MiFi mobile, 4G high speed unlimited Internet access, at the cheapest prices available within Spain.  The service can be used in a fixed residential home, or taken and used in different locations.  It is also excellent for those who have a caravan or mobile home.

 

Which Networks are your service provided over?

4G Spains “Unlimited 4G Internet” is provided ONLY over the Telefonica Movistar Network in Spain.

 

Will the Coverage be the same as Movistar ?

Our 4G unlimited internet service is provided over the Telefonica Movistar network.  So the answer is yes.  However depending upon your location some users will get better coverage than others.

Indeed the user is responsible for ensuring the Telefonica 4G Unlimited Internet network service will work where they wish to use it before they purchase any 4G service.  To check your coverage and potential connection speeds, please click here.

 

What Internet Speeds can I expect?

Download and upload speeds can be as high as 70 meg download and 30 megs up, but actual speeds will be influenced on where you are in relation to the closest Telefonica 4G / GSM mast location, and where you place the 4G router or 4G / 3G MiFi device within your home.

 

Are there data usage limitations?

The first 400 gigs of data usage within a 30 day period are unhindered in any way.

 

What happens when my unhindered 400 Gigs of data is fully used?

For the remainder of the data period your speed will be reduced to 128 kbps, which will enable you to send and receive emails, surf etc much more slowly.

 

What date in the month does the data counter reset back to zero?

The data period runs from the 18th of a month to the 17th of the next month.  Therefore the unhindered 400 gigs runs from the 18th of one month to the 17th of the next.  This is preset by Telefonica and cannot be changed.

 

What will the initial 400 gigs of unhindered data provision enable me to do?

Quite simply 400 gigs of 4G Internet data usage is massive. This is enough data to watch HD IPTV, Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc, and is brilliant for gamers.  Initial users of our 4G Unlimited Internet services was primarily used for watching IPTV or Videos.  However in general terms 400 Gigs would normally allow one of the following although this cannot be guaranteed:

An average of 18 hours of Standard Definition (SD) IPTV per day over a month; or

300 Hours of streaming videos / Netflix; or

Listen to 100,000 songs; or

Surf 400,000 web pages.

If the 400 Gigs of 4G Internet were ever used in a single month, for the remainder of that month the data speed is reduced to enable continued unlimited but basic surfing, email and data services only. However this is very unlikely to be experienced by the average residential family.

 

Can I check how much data I have used at any time?

For the more tech capable, you may be able to login to your router and see what data has been used and therefore what is remaining during the month.  It is possible to reset counters within 4G routers etc if you would like to do this.

 

How do you provide your service and data usage packages so cheaply?

We aim to be the cheapest in Spain for adhoc, short and long term residential 4G internet access. To do this we simply ensure our running costs are as low as possible. Consequently we have stripped out any high cost elements of running an organisation that provides such a service.  For example contact and support is only via emails, as any other type of customer interaction is costly and would result in higher pricing.

 

I already own a 4G router / 3G Mifi device, will I need a new one?

If you have an existing 4G router then it should NOT be necessary to incur the cost of a new router to use our Spanish Unlimited 4G Internet Service.

 

Can I use the service within a mobile phone?

The flexibility of accessing certain services such as Netflix, gaming, IPTV etc are limited via the use of 4G services via a mobile phone, in comparison when using the service in hardware such as specific 4G routers or MiFi devices.

Furthermore a mobile can inadvertently try to access additional services which you could incur additional charges that are not covered by the 4G service package and will result in the service being cut off with immediate effect.  Hence we strongly advise that the service is not used within a mobile phone.

 

Can I use the service outside of Spain?

No, is the simple answer.  Should you use the 4G service outside of Spain this would incur roaming charges and therefore you would need to pay additional fees.  Therefore to limit this potential you should never use the service outside of Spain, just on the off chance of additional charges being incurred and the service being terminated early.

 

Do I need a Spanish NIE or Spanish identification to buy a service?

No.

 

To get a continuous provision of your Spanish Unlimited 4G Internet Service what information do you need?

Currently we do not need anything but your name, postal location and email address to process your order and an address within Spain to send the Sim or hardware ordered. However we retain the right to request should it be deemed necessary in the future your full name, telephone number, passport or internationally recognized ID and signature.

 

What happens if a payment is rejected?

The service will be terminated, and when this happens the service cannot be reinstated via the Sim you currently have.  A new Sim would have to be shipped and transportation paid for.

 

If I pay for a month via PAYG then want it again sometime in the future after a break in service can I use the same Sim?

No.  Once there is a break in service, the service cannot be reinstated via the Sim you currently have.  A new Sim would have to be shipped and transportation paid for.

 

Is your service available in all of Spain?

Yes, we are a national provider for this service.  We can post out the necessary equipment to anywhere within Spain or the Spanish islands for a fee.  Note the service will not be activated until you have received the Sim and any other ordered hardware.

 

Will the service Step down to 3G ?

The service is a 4G unlimited internet service.  At times where 4G service is not available in your area, the service can potentially step down to 3G .  However this is out of our control and ultimately Telefonica are in control of all of these areas.

 

Is the service based on a 6 or 12 month minimum contract

No the agreement is based on either a “Pay As You Go” service (minimum 1 month); or “Recurring Monthly Service” with an initial 2 Month minimum period.

 

Can I terminate the monthly recurring service at any time?

Yes.

We can only stop taking future payments when a client notifies us to stop doing so.  Hence there is no permanency with our 4G unlimited internet service.

On the 4G Unlimited Internet monthly recurring option, as long as we are notified three working days before the next recurring payment is due to be taken, that a client wishes to stop paying for future services, we will cease taking any future monthly payments as long as there is no fee balance outstanding.

However we cannot give refunds for any period paid for in advance.

 

Can I have a refund if there is no 4G coverage where I want to use it?

It is the clients responsibility to ensure the 4G internet service will work where they intend to us it before we take payment at any time Therefore please ensure there is Telefonica 4G Internet data service where you live/ intend to use it, before you take an Unlimited 4G Internet service plan from us as no refunds are possible.

 

Can I use my existing 4G Router or 3G MiFi device?

Yes it is highly likely that you can use your pre owned 4G router or MiFi device, as long as your device is open or locked to Telefonica.  Note the hardware has to be a 4G or 3G specific device, the service will not work in the more common ADSL type router.

Do you have plenty of Sims ?

Yes we are a national provider of this 4G Unlimited Internet service so there should be no issues with regards to the supply of Sims in normal operational situations.

 

Do you have a limit to the number of people who can buy your service?

No.  We are a primary supplier of this service.

 

Why should I use 4G-Spain as my provider?

If you want to be able to deal primarily in English and with a company at the top of the supply chain then we are the company of choice.

Our 4G Unlimited high speed internet enables almost any residence, mobile home or caravan to gain access to high speed internet with potential speeds of up to 70 MB download and 20 Mb upload anywhere in Spain.

 

Can I buy my own 4G router and still use your service?

Yes.

However if you do need to buy a 4G router you will be hard pushed to get a brand new, 4G Router with 4 ethernet ports and Wi-Fi connectivity cheaper than what we supply them for.  We do not aim to make money from hardware, our goal is we will continue our success by providing economical 4G internet services to our thousands of regular customers.

Our 4G Routers provided gives access to superfast 4G internet of up to 70 Mb download and 20 Mb upload speeds. Our main routers have 4 Ethernet connection points to ensure hardwired connections are easily achieved where recommended, such as for Netflix, Smart TV services, Gaming, security cameras, PCs etc in addition to providing wireless connections of up to 32 devices.  In essence it provides more than enough connectivity for the most demanding requirements of the modern home.

Should a 4G internet data connection not be available where you want to use the service, it will automatically fall back and connect to a 3G data service.  Consequently the router should enable the vast majority of homes to gain access to a 4G internet data service where available and if none is immediately available step down and use the high speed 3G data service until a high speed 4G internet service again becomes available.

 

How are the Sims and / or Routers Sent?

Orders are shipped and delivered via Correos 2 day signed for delivery service.

Once you have received the item and checked that everything ordered has been received, and that there has been no damage during transit, a set of procedures have to be followed fully to ensure the service is activated for a trouble free experience.

Note the service is not activated before it is sent for security reasons, and also ensures any service time is not lost during the order and transportation period.  Consequently activation instructions have to be followed very carefully, step by step, depending upon the service and items purchased once received.

 

I have purchased and received only a SIM – Activation Procedure

  1. Do NOT put the SIM in your Router Upon opening the delivery once you have unwrapped the SIM, at this stage do not put the SIM in your router. If you leave the router switched on with the SIM inside before activation is completed, this can result in the service terminating within days of being activated and only give you a limited number of gigabytes of data.
  2. Send us an email to info@4g-spain.com to say that you need the service activated ASAP or by a particular date in the future.
  3. Once we receive your email, we will initiate the activation process ASAP thereafter (during working days Monday to Friday 10 am – 5 pm CET), which can take between three and twenty four hours.
  4. Once correctly activated we will email you immediately. Only then should the SIM be placed into your router. This is critical.
  5. Your service will now be active, enjoy.

 

I have purchased off you a 4G Router & SIM – Activation Procedure

Upon opening your delivery, please check that the router has been received with the necessary power supply, and that there is no apparent damage during delivery.

Note the SIM has already been installed for you.  However at this stage DO NOT SWITCH ON THE ROUTER.  If you power up the router and leave it switched on before activation is completed this can result in the service terminating within days and only give you a limited number of gigabytes of data.

The following procedure needs to be followed:

  1. DO NOT SWITCH ON THE ROUTER.
  2. Send us an email to info@4g-spain.com to say that you need the service activated ASAP or by a particular date in the future.
  3. Once we receive your email, we will initiate the activation process ASAP thereafter (during working days Monday to Friday 10 am – 5 pm CET), which can take between three and twenty four hours.
  4. Once correctly activated we will email you immediately. Once you have the email advising activation has been achieved, you should power up the router.
  5. The Wi-Fi signal will be as follows, “ 4G-Spain.com Wi-Fi “, and the encryption is written on the bottom of the router.
  6. Your service will now be active, enjoy.

 

If I order a router with a Sim, do I have to do anything technical to get it working?

No, when someone orders a router and a sim at the same time, we always place the SIM into the router, so that once correctly activated, the service really is plug and surf.

 

PAYG Package General Information

If you have purchased a set amount of time under the PAYG option, the amount of time purchased starts on the day we email you to advise the service is activated.  The service will be automatically terminated, during the day service purchased ends.

Therefore it is important that should you want the service to continue, that you advise us within a minimum of seven days before the service is scheduled to end, and that payment for any additional period is received and cleared three days before scheduled end date.

Whilst active you always have the option of changing the service to recurring payments and enjoy the benefits of a lower monthly fee.

Please note, once the service is terminated, the SIM cannot be reactivated under any circumstances.

 

Monthly Recurring Package General Information

You have to pay for an initial two months and recurring payments are automatically initiated.

As two months is initially charged for the Monthly Recurring Package, this is for as follows:

  • 1 month is for the initial month.
  • The other month is for the final month termination period whenever you initiate this.

Consequently the first recurring payment will actually be taken one month after the date of order / when the initial payment was taken.

You can terminate the service at any time, but  with at least three days notice of when you want the last recurring payment to be taken or even before the first once is taken.  Once this has been received and acted upon, the service will run for one remaining month as this has been paid for during your very first initial 2 month payment.

 

After the initial payment (of 2 months) for the recurring payment service, when does the next month payment come out of the bank / debit card account?

The first recurring payment is taken one month exactly after the initial order is placed.

 

Why do you take two months when ordering a recurring payment package?

The first payment is for a minimum of two months as this is one month in advance, and one month to cover termination when you request it.

 

Can I terminate the recurring payments at any time?

Yes.  But it must be received three days before the next payment is due to be taken.

 

Can you explain in greater detail how do I terminate the recurring payment service?

Termination notification has to be received 3 days before the next recurring payment is due to be taken.

Example, if you place your order for a monthly recurring package on the 1st September, you pay for two months initially.

One being for the period, 1st Sep to 30th Sep.

And the other one month is held for the termination month period triggered once requested / initiated.

So if you sent notification to terminate on or before 27th of September, no further payments would be taken.

But the service would not end until during the working day hours of the 30th of October as we would use the termination month payment held to pay for the termination month 1st of October to 30th October.

So in summary you can terminate at any time. However there are no refunds for any periods already paid for or during the termination period.

 

Can I use this service in a mobile phone?

The service is primarily to be used in specific 4G internet access hardware such as 4G Routers or MiFi Pebble type devices.

The 4G router type hardware is much better so that devices such as PCs, TVs, Game consoles etc can be hardwired to the router.  The router also enables devices such as laptops, iPads and mobile phones to be connected wirelessly to it.

The sim could work in an opened hardware device such as a mobile phone, but this could lead to you being charged for services a phone could potentially try to access without your knowledge, and lead to additional charges, therefore it is seriously not recommended.

 

I have just paid, when will my orders be shipped?

Orders are shipped out the day after the order has been placed and paid for.  The delivery method used takes two days and requires a signature on delivery.

 

What methods can we use to pay for the service?

We only take payments via our website, using the internationally recognized payment gateway Stripe.  This will allow you to pay by credit or debit card in a selection of currencies.

 

Are there unlimited calls and messages included?

No.  The service is for internet access only. Should any bypass of this limitation be experienced you would be liable for the associated costs incurred.

 

Can we use the sim and its data in other countries?

No.  The service is for internet access within Spain only. Should any bypass of this limitation be attempted and experienced you would be liable for the associated costs incurred.

 

Can the sim go into any 4G router modem device or has to be from you?

It will work in any unlocked 4G router or Mi-Fi device.  It should not be used in a mobile phone as any costs incurred or services the mobile phone might inadvertently access will be at your cost and liability.
